At the Habitat for Humanity Poker Run and Family Fun Day, Pastor Joe gives instructions from the back of his pickup. The volunteers assisted exhibitors in setting up their booths, picking up trash during the festival, setting up the sound system and whatever odd jobs needed to be done.
Last Fall, First Baptist Church Arcadia sponsored the first Disciple Now Weekend, a teen outreach led by Joe Yarbrough, student pastor for teens and young adults.
The intense spiritual growth experience included Bible study, praise and worship, sleep-ins and lots of food. Other churches in the community sent youth members, too, including First Baptist Church Nocatee, Union Baptist Church Ona, Mount Ephraim Baptist Church Arcadia and Fort Ogden United Methodist Church.
