Melissa Sica, Volunteer Coordinator for Tidewell Hospice in DeSoto County, invites participation in the volunteer training program during February. Participation begins with a phone call to Sica at 863-231-3307.
Anyone who has benefitted from the services and care given to loved ones at the Tidewell Hospice in Arcadia knows the valuable contribution made by the volunteers at the facility. Actually, more than 5 percent of the staff consists of volunteers. These workers do everything from feeding residents at Hospice to providing essential services, much as a CNA would do. Those who volunteer are asked to work at least 25 hours per year, but may work more. A Silver Service Award is given to those who work 250 hours and a Gold Service Award is presented for 500 hours a year.
Tidewell is always seeking caring, dedicated volunteers. Anyone wishing to be part of this volunteer program must first be trained. Melissa Sica is the Volunteer Coordinator for Tidewell’s DeSoto County facility who qualifies the volunteers to entering the program.
