NORTH PORT — The city of North Port, currently shortchanged on the Sarasota-Manatee Metropolitan Planning Organization and its Citizens Advisory Committee despite its population, soon may see a shift in its CAC representation.

David Hutchinson, the MPO planning manager, said this week he and the MPO staff would assist North Port rep Ken Maturo in crafting an amendment to the CAC bylaws in order to increase the city’s participation on the committee. “We could work with him on the agenda item,” Hutchinson said of preparation for the next committee meeting on March 1. “We’ll definitely work with Ken if he wants to propose something.”
