Death investigation of infant prompts children’s removal

A woman living in a home in Punta Gorda where a dead infant was found in a freezer lost custody of her children on Thursday.
State Department of Children and Families officials said temporary custody of Jessica Smallwood’s three children had been given to their grandmother, Smallwood’s mother.
