PUNTA GORDA — This city soon could be twinkling year-round, with strings of lights decorating downtown light poles, and maybe even a few trees, if a proposal discussed by the City Council on Wednesday is implemented.

Several council members said they wanted to explore the idea further. They asked their public works director, who drew up an estimate for putting the lights on poles, to also get an estimate for lighting up a few trees.
