Erin Coleman holds her pet cat, Dweezle. Erin has end-stage lung disease and needs a double lung transplant. Friends are holding fundraisers for the 28-year-old to help raise a required $10,000 to offset extra medical and living expenses following the operation. Her name will not go on a list of potential recipients until the extra finances are secured.

Erin Coleman, 28, of Venice, has a few goals in life.

“I really want to do my own laundry, stand in the kitchen and devote time to cooking a meal,” she said, “and — this is the girl part of me coming out — but I want to try on wedding dresses without collapsing.”
