Dead dead
By Greg Bartz
When you start to look for something that isn’t really there, you can potentially end up spending a l ot of money on something that doesn’t really need to be replaced. This was the case with a very basic item in my boat this past weekend. I have talked at great lengths about maintenance and what you should look for in order to keep your boat performing like it should. But sometimes, even if you take care of your equipment, it can just simply be, well … dead.
I am a stickler for making sure that my batteries stay at an optimal charged level. The last thing I ever want to have happen is to be out on the lake with a boat that won’t start, or to have all the fish in the livewell die because the aerator can’t run, due to a dead battery. The day before I plan on going fishing, I plug my onboard charging system in and hook up the single charger I have to the fourth battery. This way I know all the batteries get a good solid charge.
