L&E’s first meeting, catching up on summer tales

Event hostesses Sue Maassen, Mary Ann Treadwell and Sue Overcash.

The L&E Club held its first meeting of the season on Oct. 2. Mary Ann Treadwell joined hostesses Sue Maassen and Sue Overcash in welcoming members to her home. Desserts of chess and pecan pies were served.

Members received the annual program outlining the monthly programs for the season. Susan Lanier walked members through the exciting programs planned and thanked the program committee for their work in putting the season together.

The members then caught up on the exciting adventures everyone had over the summer. Members recounted wonderful trips with grandchildren, family and friends, remodeling and building projects in process and completed, as well as the everyday comings and goings of busy families. It was agreed all had a great summer.

Members attending the meeting were: Jane Adams, Shirley Cullom, Muriel Hall, Margaret Hays, Susan Head, Linda Hollingsworth, Lindsay Knoche, Shelia Knocke, Susan Lanier, Sue Maassen, Genie Martin, Sue Overcash, Ann Ryals, Mindy Ryals, Sue Ellen Smith, Mary Ann Treadwell, Nancy Jo Vaughn, Angela Waters, Edith Wildt and Marlou Zolkos.

The historic Literary & Embroidery Club next meets Nov. 6 at the home of Marlou Zolkos.
