Arcadia Literary Club, next outing in February

The Arcadia Literary Club met Oct. 10 at Sunny Day Bistro in Sunny Breeze. President Debi Halvorson called the meeting to order at 5 p.m. and everyone stood and read the collect. Debi Halvorson then proceeded with the business meeting by thanking Jessica Ritch for arranging the dinner and the Executive Committee for their help in planning this year’s program. A special thanks was given to past-president Eloise Johnson for making the Florida themed table favors to kick off our new program year.

This year’s theme is “Offerings from the Land of Sunshine.” October birthdays were recognized and Club secretary Raye Southwell called roll, read May minutes and correspondence. Beau Carson gave a brief treasurer’s report and told members that dues will remain $20.

In attendance were Sally Aldrich, Laura Amendola, Pam Ames, Susan Barnes, Kim Bonner, Marcia Brown, Beau Carson, Laura Christ, Ruth Dunn, Kim Fender, Darlene Foster, Muriel Hall, Debi Halvorson, Cherie Hollingsworth, Eloise Johnson, Heather Kamberg, Nancy Mabrey, Marilyn McConnell, Bonnie Molloy, Jessica Ritch, Mindy Ryals, Raye Southwell and Janie Watson. Guests included Carol Auster, Michele Keen, Lou Gardner, Sarah Chapman and Gwen Finley.

Second vice-president Nancy Mabrey reported that our annual outing will be (Saturday) Feb. 16. Members and guests will attend a matinee performance of “Guys and Dolls” at the Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre in Fort Myers. Bylaws/Constitution chair Muriel Hall thanked the committee for printing the bylaws in the program book. First vice-president Jessica Ritch read the quote from Beatriz Williams and asked members to look for any changes in the program book.

Following the business meeting, Nancy Mabrey blessed the meal and prayed for those in the path of Hurricane Michael. Members and guests enjoyed a beautifully presented meal and enjoyed conversation.
