PORT CHARLOTTE — Hope is an affectionate young female cat that a concerned citizen found on the side of the road. She has a severe back injury and can’t feel her back legs. She is still very active and moves around pretty well. She is in desperate need of a potential adopter who will understand her special needs and long-term care.

Coby is a 3-year-old hound mix. He unfortunately is not adjusting well to the shelter environment. He has trust issues with new people. He is very sweet and playful once he gets to know you. Shelter staff are recommending an experienced dog owner that understands shy dogs.

The shelter is located at 3519 Drance St., Port Charlotte. It is currently operating by appointment only from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday. Prior to adoption, all animals are microchipped, spayed or neutered, dewormed, tested for heartworm and are current with their shots, including rabies. Call 941-625-6720 or visit www.AWLShelter.org for more information.
