Boats decorated in the “Make A Joyful Noise” theme paraded through the canals of Punta Gorda Isles for “The Saturday Night Before Christmas Eve Boat Parade.”
The parade, a tradition since 2001, began when founder Tom Little, invited 16 PGI boat owners to participate in the original parade.
The parade grew over the years, with decorated boats introducing themes, onboard music, crews waving and encouraging crowds to respond with sleigh bells, cowbells, and noisemakers. This year was no different.
As the decorated boats passed, at times within 50 feels of spectators, shouts of “Merry Christmas” from the spectators and boat owners echoed down the canals.
The tradition of the first boat in the parade continued, with a simple, large illuminated “Joy” announced by an angel trumpeter at the bow, indicating the start of the parade.
