PUNTA GORDA — Charlotte County Public Schools Board candidate Larry Benjamin has withdrawn from the race.
Benjamin was running for the District 1 seat against incumbent Cara Reynolds. He first announced it on his social media page, citing family obligations as a reason for his withdrawal. “This was a very difficult decision to withdraw, as I have a strong desire to advocate for children. I always put the health and personal concerns of my family at a top priority,” he told The Daily Sun. “I will reevaluate things in the future, as I plan to run for office again at some level. There are multiple issues that our school district faces such as teacher shortages, bullying, accountability, and open line of communication. Working together with parents, staff, and the board is essential for the education of our children,” he said.
