Myakka River Elementary School will hold its third annual Turkey Trot from 9-10:30 a.m. Friday. Students will be walking the bus loop with the administration. Students who wish to participate are asked to bring a new/gently used book to donate to students affected by Hurricane Michael to support their Mighty Manatee Community Service Project with Rotakids.

The Kumon Math and Reading Center of Port Charlotte announced the students who made honor roll for this quarter. Kumon, a year-round program, is a supplemental program in math and/or reading, that allows students to study lessons at individual pacing. The Kumon Center in Port Charlotte has been open for 14 years and currently serves 125 students. “The Advanced Student Honor Roll recognizes Kumon students who are working ahead of their school grade levels in our curriculum,” said Kumon Instructor, Ann Rankin.
