Members of the North Port Chamber of Commerce celebrated a ribbon-cutting event at Flats at Sundown apartment complex in North Port this week.
About 50 people attended.
“This is a welcome addition to our city,” said Bill Gunnin, North Port Chamber of Commerce’s executive director.
The Flats at Sundown, is a luxurious new apartment community off Toledo Blade Boulevard at 1280 Sun Market Place. The newly constructed apartment community has 224 units and is family-friendly, with a children’s play area, fitness center and a pool. It is also pet-friendly and has a “bark park” area for dogs.
“I am so glad you chose North Port to build this beautiful complex,” said North Port Mayor Jill Luke. “We really needed this in our community.”
North Port’s new city manager Jerome Fletcher attended the ceremony with his wife and daughter. They are residents of The Flats.
“It’s a beautiful place and we’re very happy to be here,” Fletcher said.
Plans are in the making to build another new apartment complex in Port Charlotte in the future, according to a spokesperson.
There are still some units available. For more information, visit www.northportapartment.com.
