John “Jack” Kyle, 95, of Port Charlotte, Fla., died Tuesday, July 13, 2021.
The son of Henry and Jane (nee Campbell) Kyle, he was born January 24, 1926, in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic. The WWII veteran served as a radio operator. He earned degrees from Pace College, where he met his wife through drama club. Jack remained a lifelong theater aficionado.
The couple married September 16, 1950, in Queens, N.Y., and later lived in Cresskill, N.J. and Woodbury, Conn. Jack established Sixplus Enterprises, specializing in schoolbook delivery, before taking a position with the educational publisher Grolier.
In 1992, he retired to the Englewood, Fla. area, where he belonged to St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and tennis leagues.
Jack is preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Catherine “Kitty” nee Taormina. He is survived by six children, John (Ann) Kyle, Jody (James) Hurst, Jayne (Wade) Lillegard, Francine (Eugene) Zaggia, Michael Kyle, and Kathryn Kyle; eight grandchildren, Kyle, Kelly and James (Rachel) Hurst, Robert (Alicia) Lillegard, Kathryn (Kent) Nichols, Michael (Christine) Lillegard, Christina (Bryan Guerrieri) and Christopher Zaggia; and six great-grandchildren, James Liam, Quinn, Ruby, Mercedes, Coralie, and Dahlia.
