Hello, I would like to point out the fact that, as this increase in Covid spikes, our young community residents are becoming sick. The fact that our county hospitals are still performing elective surgeries is a joke and shows a lack in leadership.

My family sat inside the emergency room waiting room for 11 hours because all 22 beds in the emergency room were filled, and they had nowhere to move the patients out to the floors because of overcrowding. Yet, as I am explaining this situation to my neighbor, he is explaining to me that his father is having total knee surgery at  in Port Charlotte. Now I know for a fact, this requires at least two days of hospital stay.

Why is it that every other county around us is making sure they have enough room for their sick patients. And this hospital, is booking surgeries, elective. (Non-life threatening) instead of helping these poor younger generation of citizens.

Blows my mind. And yet, no one talks about it.
