With the end of the scheduled school year just around the corner, some parents are wondering, is school going to be extended?

“As of right now, we are still following the School Board-approved calendar for the 2019-2020 school year,” said Sarasota County Schools spokesperson Kelsey Whealy.

According to the school’s website calendar, the last day of school scheduled for students is May 29. Parents can access the calendar at www.sarasotacountyschools.net and search for the 2019-2020 calendar.

“Plans are still being determined about collection of items like computers, uniforms and textbooks,” Whealy said. “Schools are still working through the logistics of how to accomplish this efficiently and with strict adherence to CDC guidelines.”

Charlotte County Schools has a posting on its website stating that “The Commissioner of Education has instructed School Districts that schools will now remain closed until the end of the school year. For Charlotte County, this is May 28. E-Learning will continue until the end of the school year.”

According to the DeSoto County School District’s website, the last day of school for students is also scheduled for May 28.
