Bion Cantorum’s newest member says she found the vocal ensemble on YouTube. Alto Jeanette Zingo studied music at Western Connecticut State University. Before moving to Charlotte County a year ago with her family, she sang as a cantor and section leader at Saint Thomas Moore Chapel Choir at Yale, in ensembles such as the Bruckner Choir and the Richard Gard Singers and she performed with such popular artists as Kenny Rogers, Andy Williams and Kenny Loggins. Now a full-time mom of a 3-year-old, Zingo is enjoying getting back into music this year with Bion Cantorum.

After four seasons of concerts in Port Charlotte, Bion Cantorum has moved to Punta Gorda. Their next concert is “Christmas is Coming,” on Dec. 2, at 3 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Punta Gorda, 25250 Airport Road, Punta Gorda.

The Dec. 2 concert features English, Basque, Austrian and German carols, Lauridsen’s “O Magnum Mysterium,“ and from Russia, Rachmaninoff’s “Rejoice, O Virgin.” Other pieces include arrangements by Gerald Custer, Joan J. Pinkston, Norman Luboff, Mel Torme, and our own musical director, Roy Engler.

All tickets are $15 with open seating. For tickets contact 941-206-2071 or www.bioncantorum.com and click on the link to brownpapertickets.com. Tickets may be purchased at the door — cash only.

First Presbyterian Church of Punta Gorda is located just east of Taylor Road at 25250 Airport Road, Punta Gorda.
