On Dec. 7, at 7:30 p.m., the Charlotte County Concert Band, under the direction of Bob Miller, will present “A Christmas Celebration” in the Charlotte Performing Arts Center in Punta Gorda.

If you are looking for a wonderful way to get into the holiday spirit, you definitely will want to come to this concert. You will be treated to a wide variety of holiday music from the classical sounds presented in the “Nutcracker Suite,” featuring the “Chinese Dance,” “Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies,” and the “Russian Dance,” to “Irving Berlin’s Christmas” featuring “Happy Holiday,” “I’ve Got My Love To Keep Me Warm,” “Count Your Blessings Instead of Sheep,” and “White Christmas.” There will be traditional selections including “Symphonic Prelude on Adeste Fidelis” and “Angels We Have Heard On High,” as well as “Christmas Day,” a forgotten arrangement by Gustav Holst featuring “Good Christian Men, Rejoice,” “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen,” “Come Ye Lofty, Come,” and “The First Noel.”

If you enjoy jazz, the band will be performing “Good Swing Wenceslas” and a new addition to the Charlotte library entitled “A Wassail Yule.” This fantasia on “I Saw Three Ships,” “Good Christian Men Rejoice,” and “The Wassail Song” gives a swinging lilt to these carols and adds some luxurious chords and florid counterpoint, all designed to celebrate this holiday season.

Soloists for this concert will be Wendy Paul and Sara Hart who will sing “When We’re Together” from the animated movie “Frozen” and “Irving Berlin’s Christmas.”
