Now is the time to visit the Charlotte Harbor Environmental Center and explore their beautiful grounds, nature trails and impressive education center.

As an added bonus you’ll also have an opportunity to view and perhaps purchase a photograph by John E. Baldwin or a painting by Barbara Archer-Baldwin, the center’s featured artists of the year. By purchasing one or more pieces of artwork from the couple’s extensive collection, you will be helping to promote environmental awareness, as 40 percent of all art sales will be donated to the center.

Although this year’s exhibit featuring 67 pieces of John’s photography and Barbara’s pastel and acrylic paintings will be open to public viewing during the winter season, art lovers and environmentalists will have an opportunity to meet the couple in person on Nov. 15, at an opening reception of their work entitled “Nature Through Our Eyes” taking place at the Charlotte Environmental Center.

After marrying in 2012, Barbara and John have developed their respective art forms to a high degree. Barbara has achieved Signature Status in the Pastel Society of America and has won awards in several International Pastel and multi-media competitions. Both teach at the North Port Art Center, have published two books, and have participated in many national and international juried art shows.

“We feel that our artistic lives have been enriched by collaboration. John’s deep love of nature is apparent in his images, and he is currently teaching digital camera usage and photography at the North Port Art Center. I’ve been a professional artist most of my life and have taught drawing and painting (pastels, oil and acrylic) for over 40 years. For the past eight years I’ve taught pastel at the North Port Art Center where John and I are co-chairs of the Gallery Committee. At the Charlotte Harbor Environmental Center several unique pieces of our collaborative art ‘Brushed Lenses’ will be on display along with John’s photos on canvas to which I’ve added various wild life embellishments,” explained Barbara.

The Charlotte Harbor Environmental Center, 10941 Burnt Store Road, Punta Gorda, is hosting an opening reception from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Nov. 15, for their featured Artists of the Year, Barbara Archer-Baldwin and John E. Baldwin.

The public is invited to view the artists’ collection “Nature Through Our Eyes” and their collaborative art entitled “Brushed Lenses”. 40 percent of art sales will benefit the Charlotte Harbor Environmental Center’s mission to promote environmental awareness.
