The Annual Englewood Bank & Trust Thanksgiving Art Festival always marks the first art event of the new season in our community each year. The Art Festival is Nov. 24-25, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the grounds of Englewood Bank & Trust’s main branch at 1111 S. McCall Road in Englewood.
The Englewood Bank & Trust Invitational is a small high-quality boutique style art show with an impressive list of artists. Fifty of the nation’s top award-winning fine artists and craftsmen will be featured in this world class art event and every media will be represented.
The show is the brain child of renowned local artist, Carroll Swayze, who wears many hats in our community from Artist to Show Director to Art Teacher to Camp Counselor. Swayze’s eclectic Art Studio is a fixture in town and she is famous for not only her paintings but also for the “Art Parties” she hosts on her beautiful old Florida property.
“Englewood has always been an art town. I’ve been here most of my life and our community has always been supportive of artists and the original art that they create. I search high and low across the country each year for unique high quality fine artists to showcase along with our wonderful local artists because I know they will be appreciated here” said Swayze. “We are very fortunate to have Englewood Bank & Trust as our host. They have been wonderful for over 30 years and I truly appreciate everything they do for us. The location on SR 776 near the Beach Road is easy to find with good parking and is perfect for an art festival.
This year’s Thanksgiving Art Festival has something for everyone, from handmade clothing to large original watercolors. Incredible sculpture, hand forged jewelry, acrylics, pottery, photography, everything you can imagine will be represented. All the artwork in the show is handmade and the artists who create it will be here to talk to you about their medium and their interesting lives so come out and show your support for original art.
New this year is the addition of professional Glassblower, Rich Fizer, who will be on site blowing glass “live” all day both days of the festival, which is an exciting experience you don’t want to miss. Bring a chair and your friends and family to watch a professional gaffer at work creating amazing organic bowls, fish and vases from hot molten glass. Glass demonstrations will start every hour on the hour.
The Englewood Bank & Trust Invitational Art Festival is a premiere art collecting opportunity for local homeowners and visitors as well as being a great way to spend a day relaxing and enjoying art in a casual setting. Delicious food and refreshments will be available on site and Englewood Bank & Trust will provide plenty of free parking.
