Thank you to all our veterans for their service! All library locations are closed Monday in observance of Veterans Day. We thank all of those that have served our country to protect our freedom.

The Charlotte County Historical Center is presenting a special program in honor of Veterans Day here at the library at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 16. This program series is called “Journeys in Archive Research.” Join Dr. Joshua Goodman, Archives Historian from the Florida State Archives, in this webinar series highlighting research techniques with archival materials. Question and answer sessions will follow each presentation.

The webinar series is at the Mid County Regional Library on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with “Researching Historic Businesses.” This webinar documents how to use proper researching techniques and how to investigate historic business records with tips on accessing these archival documents. On Friday at the Englewood Charlotte Library, the series concludes with “Documenting our Troops.”

In honor of Veterans Day, participants will learn about different military collections found online and what those resources may reveal about a veteran they are researching. Representatives from our local Veterans Services office join us for this session to talk about resources available to veterans in our area. Please join us for this informative program.
