VENICE — Some walls are best torn down — but these walls hope to build people up.
As Tropical Storm Sally drenched Southwest Florida this weekend, residents who are used to heavy downpours continued on with life as usual. Kids still played sports, cheerleaders still were in full-force, people flocked to the beaches to see the waves and kids enjoyed the puddles.
VENICE — The last of the old copies of the Venice Gondolier newspaper were moved Wednesday, Sept. 2, from the paper’s building on East Venice Avenue to the Julia Cousins Laning and Dale Laning Archives & Research Center.

Gasparilla Sound was the place to be Saturday as boaters from all over the area converged on Dog Island and the Boca Grande Sandbar to check out the bands, hang out with friends and get a little Labor Day weekend sun.
