For Jeremiah Coscia, it all started with the desire to make a little extra cash so that his wife could be a stay-at-home mom.

Years later, things have blossomed in ways that would have been hard to have foreseen.

Back in 2006, Coscia launched Coscia Development, a contracting firm that is still operating in residential and commercial capacities to this day.

From his general contracting firm, though, came a niche firm that has taken off: Artisan Millworks. Artisan Millworks is Coscia’s custom cabinetry company, one that has a growing reputation within Polk County and beyond. In the spring of 2016, it was recognized as “Best Kitchen” in its category by the Polk County Builders Association Parade of Homes and has been recognized each spring and fall since — and it all grew organically out of an interest in making great cabinets.

“We kind of always had a love for fine woodworking and cabinetry,” Coscia said. “It just grew into something that was something I loved doing — I love being creative.”

For Artisan Millworks, much of the success that has inspired rave reviews from clients is rooted in an attention to detail.

“What sets us apart is we more or less over-design every job so that it has as much detail as possible,” Coscia said.

That means that homeowners can boast of custom cabinets that, even in small ways, are wholly unique to them. Coscia said that for many of the custom projects, he and his team cut down trees and procure their own wood that is later integrated with the factory-bought wood to both keep costs low and add to the custom experience.

“We make every inch of it all — the trim, all the crown molding, all the doors,” Coscia said. “The people really get a high-end quality product, from start to finish.”

Both Artisan Millworks and Coscia Development have a physical space in downtown Winter Haven. Located at 335 Magnolia Avenue, the firm’s location is a testament to its craft — Coscia and his team took the former fueling station located there and refurbished, breathing new life into one of Winter Haven’s historic buildings.

That location is usually staffed weekdays from 7:30 a.m. until 3:30 or 4 p.m. Walk-ins are welcome, and prospective clients can also reach Coscia and his team via email: Jeremiah@ArtisanMillworksCo.com.
