SEBRING – Highlands County’s finest chefs are invited to compete in a Pro-Am Meatball Cook-off With a Twist during the fourth annual Moonlight, Martinis and Meatballs on Sept. 22.
Moonlight, Martinis and Meatballs is an event like no other. An astronomer will be on hand with his telescope to view the moon and other celestial sights (weather permitting.) Tickets also include a flight of three Signature Martinis newly created for the event each year. The evening also features dancing in the moonlight to DJ Dewayne, a photo booth, a grazing table and a cash bar.
New this year, there are two prize categories: People’s Choice and Best in Show. For the People’s Choice award, contestants will be judged by the guests attending. Each guest will have one vote but may purchase additional votes to help their favorite “cheftestant” win. Like the Food Network’s Great Food Truck Race, the winner is the team that raises the most money. The prize for that category is $1,000 in cash and gifts. The Best in Show winner will be chosen by three guest judges and has a prize package valued at $250.
Enter your best recipe, whether cocktail, Swedish, Italian or any other style. There is no entry fee, and chefs are encouraged to enjoy the whole event. Contestants must provide at least 100 tasting samples. The theater will provide a two-by-four-foot table, table cover and serving plates. There are 15 spaces available, 10 with electrical outlets. Teams are limited to two people. Professionals are encouraged to bring business information to share. Now in the fourth year, the evening continues to grow in attendance and popularity.
This is a fundraising event for Highlands Little Theatre, and participation is greatly appreciated. Entries must be received by Sept. 15. Space is limited and subject to availability. For more information and registration go to http://bit.ly/HLTMeatballChef.
The fun and festivities kick off at 7 p.m. Tickets are $35, designated driver tickets are $30. All proceeds will benefit Highlands Little Theatre to help continue the tradition of producing amazing live theater for our community.
