NORTH PORT — A boil water advisory for neighborhoods in Wellen Park remains in effect following a temporary loss of water pressure Sunday, a North Port spokesperson had said.
A temporary loss of pressure was in the IslandWalk, Renaissance, Preserve and Gran Paradiso neighborhoods, as well as Downtown Wellen Park and CoolToday Park, where a booster station shut down temporarily, dropping the water system pressure below 20 psi for approximately 45 minutes.
Staff responded and put pumps in manual operation until the issue was resolved. A circuit board on the programmable logic controller failed and had been replaced, water pressure fully restored, according to the city.
A boil water advisory is a precaution to the homes and businesses affected. North Port's Utilities division advises that water used for consumption — drinking and cooking water, making ice, brushing teeth or washing dishes — should be brought to a rolling boil for one minute. As an alternative, use bottled water.
Affected residents should continue boiling water for consumption until receiving a “Rescission of the Boil Water Notice” made public when the advisory is lifted.
