North Port emergency workers direct two tow trucks toward a flipped cement mixer on Tuesday off North Tamiami Trail. The crash happened at about 12:45 p.m. between North Port and Pan American boulevards. The truck went off the north shoulder of the road, onto the paved bike path and flipped on its right side. The truck went off the road due to a failed wheel and flipped because of the embankment off the road, the city of North Port reported Wednesday in an environmental report to the State of Florida. The truck spilled five gallons of diesel fuel before the leak could be repaired. “The vehicle was driven away from the scene once up righted,” the report states.
