NORTH PORT — A man told investigators he didn’t have a computer pass code because of his video game obsession — saying his parents had it — before admitting to viewing child porn, authorities said.

Luis A. Gonzalez, 24, of North Port, faces a felony count of transmission of child pornography by electronic device after a Sarasota County investigation.

According to authorities, the viewing of the sodomizing of a victim was in November 2017 which led to the investigation. Authorities found the computer’s IP address was linked to a home on the 3400 block of Rockman Street in North Port.

On Thursday morning, officials executed a search warrant at the home.

Gonzalez and one of his parents spoke with authorities. When authorities sought permission to examine his computer, he said he didn’t have the pass code because he became “caught up in playing video games.”

After being read his Miranda rights, he admitted to watching pornography “but denied having anything to do with child porn,” a report states.

However, he later confessed, investigators said.

“Over the course of the interview the defendant eventually admitted to watching and downloading child pornography on his computer,” the report states.

Authorities said the investigation continues.
