The Bartow and Winter Haven boys varsity basketball teams entered the holidays on winning stretches. And hoop pundits appeared to notice.
The Bartow Yellow Jackets boys soccer team has had a tremendous start to the season with a record of 11-1-1. One of the main catalysts for that is sophomore Ray Kinzy. Kinzy, who plays forward and occasionally plays defense, also, leads Bartow with 10 goals and also has six assists.
Being one of the top girls basketball players for a program like Winter Haven is nothing to scoff at. Trinity Hardy isn’t just that, but she’s the captain as well. Hardy is a junior and plays multiple positions for the Blue Devils. She is Winter Haven’s leading scorer at 18 points per game. …
WINTER HAVEN — Brandon Giles took over the Polk State College men’s basketball program on July 5, 2017. He had only a few weeks until school started and a whopping seven roster spots to fill.
The Lake Wales girls soccer team has gotten off to a strong start this season, with a record of 5-1-1 as of Dec. 16. One of the main catalysts for the Highlanders’ success has been Delaney Elder. Elder, a senior captain, leads the team with nine goals and plays forward and striker.
HAINES CITY — On Friday, Dec. 13, the Feltrim Group will hold a ribbon cutting celebration for the grand opening of its Feltrim Sports Village project.

Cristal Gomez is a sophomore at Frostproof High School and is on the cross country team. On October 12, Gomez won the county championship with a time of 18:55. Gomez started running cross country when she was in 6th grade.

William Harding is a senior at All Saints Academy and is a part of the boys swimming team. At a recent five-team meet, Harding won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 23.33 seconds and won the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 56.33 seconds.
