The Charlotte County Senior Softball Leagues made a $1,250 donation to the American Red Cross last week for the Hurricane Michael relief fund. The members of the 55+ morning league and the 60+ night league remember when Hurricane Charly hit Punta Gorda 14 years ago and decided to “pay it forward” to the victims in the Panhandle.

American Red Cross representative Bridget Montalvo came to Carmalita Park before the morning games began to accept the checks from the two leagues. Montalvo promised the players that the donation will be directed to the Panhandle areas for relief for the victims of Hurricane Michael.

The morning league Commissioners are Tim Casey, Tim Seagreaves, Charlie Hofer and Fred Stankovich. The night league board includes Al Franco, Dan Hartwig, Mike McWilliams, Jim Reuter, Vince Santello, Allan Tissot and Neil Blydenburgh.
