SEBRING — Camp Sparta was burning piles of debris on Wednesday and the fire escaped.

West Sebring Volunteer Fire Department and Florida Forest Service responded to the fire.

“Nothing was damaged,” Joe Debree, forest area supervisor for the Florida Forest Service, said. “It was just an escaped pile burn that got away. Roughly one-and-a-half acres burned.”

Nearby buildings on Camp Sparta were not damaged.
