SEBRING — The Publix in the Southgate Shopping Center was rebuilt from top to bottom in 2016 and now it will have a new addition — a liquor store.
The liquor store opened Thursday at 10 a.m.
It is located on the southside of the Publix Supermarket with access only from a front door. There is no access from inside the supermarket, Store Manager Mike McNamara said.
The hours posted on the front door show it will be open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 1-8 p.m. Sunday.
Highlands News-Sun did not reach a Publix media representative for details on the new liquor store.
The Publix website states, “enjoy the same service you expect from Publix at our nearby Publix Liquors. Since we opened our first liquor store in 2003, we’ve grown to more than 200 locations and counting.
“Publix Liquors offers great deals on your favorite brands. We also offer a variety of wine, beer, soft drinks and accessories, all in one convenient location.”
This will be the second Publix Liquors, including the north Sebring store at Fairmont Plaza, which was a former Albertsons with a separate liquor store.
