Highlands County road projects for which the Florida Department of Transportation has issued a road advisory:

•Commercial Drive Behind the Fairmount Cinema Square Shopping Plaza: Crews are working on ditches. Crews will be working on this project through Friday, July 13.

U.S. 27 Southbound between Golfview Road and Tubbs Road: Crews will reconstruct the driveway/connection at the old Mexican restaurant location and adjacent property. Watch for trucks entering and exiting the site.

U.S. 27 Northbound between CR 17 and the Polk County line: Crews are investigating the underground utilities. Watch for trucks entering and exiting the site.

•U.S. 27 from West Townsend Street to Batts Street and on S.R. 64 from US 27 to Self Avenue: Crews are replacing existing roadway with concrete pavement on U.S. 27 southbound from West Pleasant Street to Paulk Street, U.S. 27 northbound from Dyal Street to West Hill Street, and on S.R. 64 from Self Avenue to US 27. The contractor is also milling and resurfacing the existing roadway on U.S. 27 from West Townsend Street to Batts Street and on S.R. 64 from Collier Avenue to Self Avenue, installing curb and gutter, installing traffic separators, sidewalks, traffic signals, street lights, and signing and pavement markers. A single continuous lane closure on U.S. 27 will be in place during intersection construction. Additional lane closures, single-lane flagging operations, and temporary lane shifts will occur during nighttime/overnight hours on U.S. 27 and S.R. 64. The contractor is Concrete Services, LLC. Estimated project completion date is spring 2020.

Motorists should expect lane closures on U.S. 27 during overnight hours from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. and intermittent single-lane flagging operations on S.R. 64 during the daytime. All U.S. 27 traffic lanes have shifted eastward and reduced to two lanes in each direction.

•U.S. 27 in front of Home Depot: Crews are working on ditches. Crews will be closing lanes intermittently through Friday, July 13. There will be a crane brought in to reset existing structure. Watch for trucks and equipment entering and leaving the southbound lane in front of Home Depot.

•U.S. 27 from Hammock Road to Golfview Road: Crews are repairing ditches. Crews will be closing lanes intermittently through Friday, July 13. Watch for trucks and equipment entering and leaving the median and occasional lane and median closures.

•S.R. 70 from U.S. 27 to C.R. 721: Crews will perform weed control and tree trimming along the guardrail in this area. Motorists should use caution and expect intermittent lane closures eastbound and westbound from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

•S.R. 66 from Highlands/Hardee County Line to west of U.S. 27/U.S. 98: Crews have repaved approximately 9 miles of roadway on both the eastbound and westbound lanes of S.R. 66 from the Highlands/Hardee County Line to U.S. 27. Additional improvements include the addition of a right turn lane on to Skipper Road, widening the right turn lanes on to South George Boulevard, Sparta Road, and Woodland Creek Trail, installing drainage, curb and gutter, guardrail, pavement markings, and signage.

S.R. 17 from east of Woodlawn Drive to Pasadena Avenue and on Claudia Avenue: Crews will improve drainage along S.R. 17 and Claudia Avenue. Additional improvements include resurfacing the roadway, installing guardrail and pavement markings, and installing curb and gutter. Lane closures on Claudia Avenue will be during nighttime/overnight hours and a detour will be in place. Please follow posted detour signs and watch for workers in the construction zone. Estimated project completion is the end of year 2018. The contractor is Watson Civil Construction Inc.

•U.S. 17 (Lakeview Drive) between Mellow Lane and Kenilworth Blvd.: Southbound lane closure. Traffic will be using the center turn lane. Crews will rebuild overhead power lines, remove old power poles and re-build/set new poles. Watch for trucks entering and exiting the site. Please use caution in this area and watch for crews working close to the roadway.
