SEBRING — Loomis Bros. Circus is cancelling shows for today and tomorrow, Aug. 10 and 11, due to threats they received, stated Media Contact for Loomis Bros. Circus Erik Scott.
One show was scheduled for today at 7 p.m. Three shows were scheduled for tomorrow, Aug. 11, starting at 1, 4 and 7 p.m.
“We have decided to cancel the performances due to threats and false claims made by animal activists. They are threatening the show and our livelihood,” Scott said.
“We are looking into legal repercussions at this point,” he stated. “In the case of the threat, it was scary enough we don’t want to take a chance.”
According to Scott, anyone who has purchased a ticket will receive a refund. Loomis Bros. Circus will also be sending out emails about the cancellation of shows in Sebring.
“Even though we operated within the laws of Florida and the U.S., it’s not worth it,” he said. “For the protection of patrons from any harm done by activists protesting the event, we decided to cancel.”
