Donald James Williams, of Lake Placid, went to be with our Lord on Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 14, 2018. He was in the companionship of his loving family. Don was a West Virginia native. He was born March 15, 1939, in Cabin Creek, one of seven children of Pricey James Williams and John Williams. Upon graduation in 1957 from East Bank High School in West Virginia, he enlisted with the US Air Force and was discharged in 1961.

Don has been a Lake Placid resident for the past 45 years. When he came to Lake Placid in 1973, he opened Don's Carpet, which he worked until he retired in 2007. Don was an avid pilot. He began flying at the age of 16. Don attended First Presbyterian Church.

Don is survived by his wife, Elaine, whom he wed in 1966 in Indian Rocks Beach, Florida; daughters, Donna (John) Varady and Leigh Ann Williams; siblings, Alice Workman, Johnny, David, Doug, and Daniel, and Susie Bradford; and grandchildren, Zachary and Kaitlyn Varady.

Family will receive friends from 10:30-11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2018 at First Presbyterian Church with Celebration Service beginning at 11 a.m. Pastor Ray Cameron will celebrate. Presentation of the colors and "Taps" will be rendered by the U.S. Air Force Funeral Honor Team from MacDill AFB, Tampa.
