The high school tennis season begins today in the Heartland.

The Sebring boys and girls tennis teams open their season today with home matches against Kathleen High School (Lakeland).

The Sebring boys had their best season in school history last year by reaching the State Championships. The Blue Streaks return all of their top players and have an abundance of talented depth.

The Sebring girls had an outstanding season with a fairly young squad.

The Blue Streak boys were young as well last year, but overcame that with talent, a wealth of depth and a great work ethic.

The Sebring boys and girls have high hopes for the season and will look to get the season off on a positive note in today’s matches against Kathleen.

The Blue Streaks will head to Lakeland on Tuesday for an away match against Kathleen.

Sebring hosts the Okeechobee Brahmans on Feb. 19 and will play against the Avon Park Red Devils on Feb. 21.

The Avon Park Red Devils are struggling to field a girls team this season, but the boys team should be competitive.

The Lake Placid Green Dragons girls and boys teams had solid seasons last year and are hoping to duplicate that success.

Lake Placid opens the season today with home matches against the DeSoto Bulldogs.

The Green Dragons boys are at Hardee on Tuesday. The Lake Placid boys are home against Avon Park on Feb. 19, while the Green Dragon girls are at Avon Park on the same day.
