Venice blows by Booker

Jayshon Platt scored a team-high 18 points as he led the Venice boys basketball team to a 79-47 win over Booker on Thursday night.

Isaiah Levine added 11 in the win.

Venice (4-7) will look to win a third straight game this week as it hosts Sarasota at 7 tonight.

Pirates ride Lightning

Port Charotte got 18 points from Bode Stewart as the Pirates held off Lehigh 76-66 on Thursday.

Freshmen Khyre’ Ellis and Jahyere Chin reached double figures as well for Port Charlotte, which improved to 8-7 on the season. Ellis scored 12 while Chin added 10. Caleb Campos, Roland Frederick and Geoff Wisniewski each added nine.

Next up for the Pirates is a trip to Riverview on Friday.

Girls soccerMantas hook Bullsharks

Lemon Bay recorded its eighth shutout victory of the season, blanking Bonita Springs on the road, 7-0, on Thursday.

The Mantas improved to 11-5-1 on the season, which continues Saturday with a 10 a.m. contest at Key West.
