In recognition of her longtime service to Church Women United, her church and her community, Diane Penick was presented with the Valiant Woman Award at the World Community Day Celebration Nov. 2, held at The Salvation Army-Venice.
Diane was Church Women United (CWU) president from 2009-2016, and has served as the program chairperson, organizer and chairwoman of the Spring Tea.
The Tea is a major fundraising event with proceeds given to local charities. She also brought back interest in the Key Woman Award, and to date the unit has presented nearly 100 of these awards.
Since 2011, Penick has been a volunteer at Center of Hope, serving two-three days a week. In February 2014, she founded Family Promise of South Sarasota County, which to date has served 84 homeless families. She is an active member of PEO, president of the Venice Presbyterian Church Women and a church Elder.
Her dedication and influence in all of these organizations has been far-reaching and has changed lives of people in the community. CWU congratulates Diane Penick with the Valiant Award; she is a very deserving woman.
