A concerned reader asked for assistance as she thought clothes taken to a local dry cleaner were lost as the business was no longer operational and the premises were empty.
Some investigating revealed initially the reader had an incorrect name for the business. More inquiries led to the current business owner who admitted having to move in one day all the dry-cleaned inventory to a new temporary location.
All Star Laundry & Dry-Cleaning owner Dave Walstad confirmed it occurred more than three weeks previously. His lease was up at the Venice Avenue location and the center owners gave him only 1 days’ notice to move out.
He already had leased a unit in the Galleria Plaza which was being renovated for use in February. Fortunately, he was able to lease temporarily a second unit where all the cleaned customer garments are awaiting collection.
Walstad is operating from Unit 2065 South Tamiami Trail next to the Diamond Pub and across from Metro Diner in the South Venice Galleria Plaza near Venice Movie Theaters.
“We relocated from East Venice Avenue to go to this unit until February when the build-out is completed on our original new location,” said Lisa Goodwin of All Star Laundry. “All items left at East Venice Avenue have been brought to this location and we have been calling customers and leaving messages for like a month. We are open 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.”
The company offers full business services for dropping off and picking-up with a 3 day turn around. An organic cleaner they handle dry and wet cleaning, ozone, wash and fold, linens-ironed, tailoring shirts and comforters, alterations and more.
All Star Laundry & Dry Cleaning is headquartered at Lakewood Ranch where all services are operated. In February when the South Venice permanent location is opened, they will also be adding medical scrubs stated Walstad.
