VENICE — The addition of another field at the Sarasota County Croquet Club complex in Wellfield Park will shut down the adjacent disc golf course for two weeks.
Construction to add the club’s seventh field will begin March 8. It will require the relocation of two of the course’s nine holes, which will begin after trees and stumps are removed.
Hole 3 will be relocated, with a new tee pad installed and both flag anchors relocated, the release states. The tee on Hole 9 will be relocated and both basket anchors relocated as well. The tee pad will only move a few feet and reorient north-south.
The course will be closed March 8-22 to ensure there’s enough time for completion of the work, a city news release says, and the reopening will be announced.
The club — the largest in the U.S. Croquet Association, according to the release — has been working on the project with the city and Sarasota County for a couple of years.
