Four bicyclists are in critical condition after they rode into the path of a vehicle early Tuesday morning.

The crash occurred during the morning rush hour, around 8:30 a.m., on Center Road near Rockley Boulevard, according a Florida Highway Patrol crash report.

The report states that Marion Kahler, 91, of North Port, was eastbound in the left lane of Center Road approaching Rockley Boulevard when four bicyclists crossed in front of her 2008 Chevrolet from the eastbound bicycle lane.

The impact threw all four bicyclists from their bikes.

All four — Sarah Calabrese, 55, and Joel Calabrese, 67, of Venice, Jack Harrington, 57, of Englewood, and John Ustruck, 60, of North Venice — were transported to Sarasota Memorial Hospital, three by helicopter via Bayflite and AeroMed and one by ambulance, said Ashley Lusby, spokesperson with Sarasota County Emergency Services. She didn’t specify who was airlifted.

All four are currently listed in critical condition. According to the report, they were all wearing helmets.

The report says that charges remain under investigation.
