Lillian Marion of Venice, FL died peacefully at home on October 30, 2018. Lillian Sharkowitz was born in Philadelphia on November 3, 1921. She graduated from Overbrook High School and continued her studies at the Graphic Sketch Club and the Academy of Fine Arts. She married Earl Marion on March 12, 1942. They raised a family in Yeadon, a suburb of Philadelphia close to her parents’ home, and were married for 57 years.
Lillian worked as a fashion artist for 15 years, retired, and became a watercolorist. When she and Earl relocated to Venice in 1980 she continued to study painting and joined the Straw Hat Painters, meeting weekly to paint outdoors. Lillian maintained strong friendships with her high school girlfriends throughout her life. Several of them and their husbands subsequently also moved to Venice and they continued to enrich each other’s lives.
Lillian is survived by her son Craig (Celia). She is preceded in death by Earl (2001) and her son Marc (1999). Her memorial service will be held at the Jewish Congregation of Venice on Sunday, November 18 at 11:15 am. Cantor Marci Vitkus will officiate. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to the Hearing Loss Association of America, Bethesda, MD. Her family wishes to thank Tidewell Hospice for their guidance and support.
